Hi!

G5 Chord - Various Modes - Free Form Jamming on YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9hSY24JKNaQ

Some of the basic improvising concepts used:

open G5 chord - G (x) D G D G (strings 6 to 1) is used throughout most of the recording as a jumping off point for the free form jamming.

I am using various melodic and harmonic material from the following basic key centers to create my improvisation:

G lydian - Key of D

G ionian - Key of G

G mixolydian - Key of C

G dorian - Key of F

G aeolian - Key of Bb

Approximately midway through the recording at 4:08 I am using an octave shape on the 5th and 2nd strings and allowing the open D and G strings to ring through in the middle. To my ears, it creates a Jimmy Page vibe.

Blue Bossa - Chord Melody - Key of Em

Hi!

Blue Bossa - Chord Melody - Key of Em on YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJoSqWZylUU

The video begins with a slow reading of the basic tab arrangement. The 2nd time through at 5:46 I am embellishing the basic arrangement and taking some "artistic liberties" with the timing of the quick melodic passages. Perhaps it was the heat of summer that caused some mental lapses toward the end of the form. I think I recovered reasonably well! In other words, Fake it till you make it! There is a nice artificial harmonics arpeggio for the ending.

I am playing a late 80's Ibanez Artist with a Seymour Duncan Jazz pickup (neck pick-up-series) through a Custom Billm Modified Fender Blues Junior in a custom designed cherry wood cabinet with a Jensen Special Design C15N speaker. I am using a PICKBOY Exotic Pick-ebony, D'Addario NYXL Nickel Wound Strings 09-42 and a Horizon right angle cable.

The guitar amp was recorded with a Shure SM-57 (panned hard left in the mix) and a Heil PR-40 microphone (panned hard right in the mix) both going into an Apogee Duet into an iPad Air running GarageBand.

I used GarageBand to sync the video and audio together.

For audio mastering, I added a basic limiter in GarageBand. There is no EQ or reverb added.

The video was shot with an iPhone 6s Plus with the FiLMiC Pro app.

Lighting is a single Fancier Studio Fan 500A 3 LED Light Panel.
