Blue Bossa-Apogee Duet-Chord Melody-Key of Em

Hi!

Blue Bossa-Apogee Duet-Chord Melody-Key of Em on YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Y-eMlDOIik

In this audio recording, I am playing the jazz standard "Blue Bossa" in a chord melody style in the Key of Em. This recording represents one of my initial attempts to learn how to do audio recording with an Apogee Duet. The photo in the video is the actual setup that I used.

The equipment being used is: Gibson Les Paul Historic, DOD 275 Active Direct Box, ART Levelar-Tube Compressor, Custom Billm Modified Fender Blues Junior, D'Addario NYXL Nickel Wound Strings 09-42, Horizon right angle cable, Cocobolo wooden pick by PickslaysWoodworking.

The recording was done using a Shure SM-57 and Heil PR-40 microphones into an Apogee Duet into an iPad Air running GarageBand. I am using a pair of AIAIAI TMA-2 Modular Young Guru Preset headphones for monitoring. A guitar tab for this Chord Melody arrangement has been on my "to do" list for quite awhile. I will certainly post a link when it is completed.

NOTE: I discovered by trial and error and some internet research that I could use an active direct box with a ground-lift switch to get rid of an annoying "ground noise hum" that I was getting through my guitar amp.

Peace Out!~Mick

In a Sentimental Mood - Chord Melody on YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NqEHPV6PkhA

Please go to http://www.mickdennisguitar.com/mick-s-guitar-tabs to get a tab for this video.

The video begins with a slow tempo reading of my basic arrangement.

The second time through I embellish the arrangement. Also, I play a light swing feel for the Bridge.

The equipment being used is: Gibson Les Paul Historic, Custom Billm Modified Fender Blues Junior, D'Addario NYXL Nickel Wound Strings 09-42, Horizon right angle cable, Golden Gate Mandolin pick.

The video was shot with an iPhone 6s Plus with the FiLMiC Pro Camera app using a Tascam iM2 stereo condenser microphone. Note: I did attempt to minimize the bright reflection in the middle of the fingerboard using the "exposure" setting on the FiLMiC app.

Peace Out!~Mick
