Hi!

Sabbath Meets Mahavishnu - Mick Dennis Electric Guitarist on YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bz-j4mkLu6U

A track from the album "Best of Mick Dennis-2007. Recorded on a BOSS BR-600 DIGITAL RECORDER with my late 80's Ibanez Artist through a Line 6 Flextone II with a Shure SM-57 placed close to the cabinet. I'm "guessing" that I might have be running through an original Bixonic Expandora. I often used Dunlop 208 Jazztone picks during that time period.

More tracks from this album are available here - https://www.mickdennisguitar.com/bestofmickdennis2007.htm

Pics are: Mickey Dennis as a toddler-black & white portrait; Mick-1976 High School Yearbook Photo; Tony Iommi; Mahavishnu John McLaughlin. This is an homage to "2" of my Biggest Guitar Heroes! Rock On!

Peace Out!~Mick

Hi!

G5 Chord - Various Modes - Free Form Jamming on YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9hSY24JKNaQ

Some of the basic improvising concepts used:

open G5 chord - G (x) D G D G (strings 6 to 1) is used throughout most of the recording as a jumping off point for the free form jamming.

I am using various melodic and harmonic material from the following basic key centers to create my improvisation:

G lydian - Key of D

G ionian - Key of G

G mixolydian - Key of C

G dorian - Key of F

G aeolian - Key of Bb

Approximately midway through the recording at 4:08 I am using an octave shape on the 5th and 2nd strings and allowing the open D and G strings to ring through in the middle. To my ears, it creates a Jimmy Page vibe.
